PeakPulse Vibration Laser Rangefinder

This rangefinder is one of the best in the industry whenever it comes to slope. This version comes with a built in slope feature which will give you a corrected distance based on the slope between yourself and the hole. Believe it or not, slope actually makes a big difference.

What also makes this rangefinder unique is its fast focus system which gives you, the user the power to focus on the target instantaneously. By twisting the lens that you look through, you have the power to optimize the focus based on your own vision.

In addition to those two features, this rangefinder also incorporates flag acquisition technology. This helps you verify that you have successfully locked onto the flag by vibrating the rangefinder to confirm your selection. That way it will never be in question whether you locked onto the correct target or not.

As part of the PeakPulse family, this rangefinder is similar to the one above, except for the fact that it is cheaper. This rangefinder is actually 30 US dollars (22 Pounds) cheaper for a total price of 100 US Dollars (72 Pounds).

To help with the slope mode, since slope is not a tournament approved feature, this rangefinder uses a slider to help you between the two modes. This toggle sits on the top of the rangefinder and is really just as simple as hitting a button. This ease of use really cannot be beat.

Additionally this rangefinder also has a mode that lets you switch between yards and meters on the display. Whether you are an American or European, this rangefinder will be compatible for you and your friends.

    WOSPORTS Golf Rangefinder

The WOSPORTS Golf Rangefinder is one of the most unique options on this list for the reason that it can not only track range, but it can also track speed. Although this may not be a helpful feature on a golf course, it allows for this rangefinder to be helpful off the course as well.

This rangefinder also boasts its six time magnification technology which helps you see the flag close up even from far away distances. With this option it will allow you to lock onto your target easily and without any doubt in your mind.

What also makes this rangefinder different from others is that it has a fog mode and speed mode. We have already mentioned the speed mode, but this fog mode is unheard of in other rangefinders. It can be extremely useful during those early mornings full of fog out on the course.

Unfortunately this rangefinder is also different from the rest, because it actually has the shortest range out of all the finders when it comes to locking onto the pin. It has an overall range of 650 yards (594 meters), but it can only lock onto the pin at a maximum distance of 180 yards (165 meters).

    PROS

Finding the Best Budget Golf Rangefinder

Important Features of a Golf Rangefinder

In this section of the article we want to lay out the seven main features you want to look for in any rangefinder that you may find. Now 400 US dollar (289 Pounds) rangefinders do have slightly better features like consistently being able to view 1200 yards (1097 meters) or noise making options.

Although these budget golf rangefinders have a maximum range of 600 yards (549 meters) on average, they are still accurate and get the job done right.

    Modes

When it comes to popular modes on rangefinders you will often find modes for either yards or meters so it can be used in both America and Europe. Another popular mode you will find is slope on or off. This is important for all of the players who are trying to play in official tournaments. Unfortunately using slope is not allowed in tournaments, so you must be able to turn it off on your rangefinder in order to use it.

The difference that you will find for modes between a high end rangefinders and the ones on this budget list, is that the high end items will have more modes to choose from. A high end rangefinder can turn off just slope while leaving other features on unlike these budget golf rangefinders.

    Distance

As mentioned a little earlier, high budget rangefinders are able to find objects at much farther distances than that of its budget counterparts. With a high end rangefinder being able to see objects up to 1200 yards (1097 meters) on average, that is nearly double the length of the average budget rangefinder.

Now an average budget golf rangefinder will vary from a little over 400 yards (366 meters) to around a maximum of 650 yards (594 meters). When it comes to distance the maximum yardages are not necessarily the most important factor. It is very unlikely that you will need to scope something out over 600 yards away for any golf shot you will be taking. You are most likely not going to be driving any 600 yard greens, so anything over that distance is not very useful.

    Accuracy

In our opinion, accuracy is the much more important factor in comparison to distance. When it comes to high end rangefinders, most will be accurate within half of a yard or almost half of a meter as well.

You can also find rangefinders which display a distance in either the tenth of a yard or meter, but those companies typically do not claim to be accurate down to that point. While displaying the exact tenths could be useful it is extremely difficult to be accurate to the tenths place when measuring over hundreds of yards/meters.

Now most budget rangefinders are accurate within a yard or meter which is still a pretty good reading from hundreds of yards or meters away. Whenever you are making a decision of what club to use it will rarely come down to a half of a yard or meter anyways. The accuracy of the rangefinders on this list should be just fine for your needs.

    Slope Reading

Slope Reading is something that we have discussed in this article with each rangefinder, but we would like to clearly define it for you know. The slope reading takes into account the change in elevation between yourself and the pin which will slightly change the actual distance for the shot.

Now unfortunately as we previously mentioned this setting is not allowed in any official tournaments. This is because head golf officials have determined that it gives players too many advantages, and since not all rangefinders have the option it would reward players who go out and spend extra money on their equipment.

    Magnification

When it comes to magnification there really is no difference between a high end and budget rangefinder. The standard magnification rating is six times magnification which gives a very clear image of the pin or any other object you are trying to spot. First this helps with magnification of the flag, because it ensures that you are properly locked onto the pin.

Besides locking onto the pin this can also be useful for spotting out other objects such as obstacles or sand traps. When it comes to what club to select it is great to be able to magnify your image to get an exact reading of how far it is to the front and back of the obstacle you are trying to avoid. The same goes for getting an exact reading of the green as well.

    Low Visibility Performance

Now low visibility performance is a large tradeoff when it comes to high end or budget rangefinders. High end rangefinders have built in anti fog modes that will give you clear distances despite the mist that is in the way. However besides the one rangefinder on this list with fog settings, even the best budget golf rangefinders will most likely struggle with giving you an accurate reading.

This inaccuracy is due to the problems the rangefinder will have when it comes to locking onto the pin. Now if it is raining instead of high amounts of fog, that should not be as big of a problem for the rangefinder to handle. Most of these rangefinders are also waterproof so you will not need to worry about breaking it. In general just be aware that your budget golf rangefinder will not be very accurate in misty situations.

    Warranty

When it comes to warranties that is something you certainly want to look for when it comes to purchasing a rangefinder. Especially with these budget ones which may break down earlier than a high end option. When it comes to a budget rangefinder the standard warranty is typically 30 days through Amazon, but if you contact the company manufacturer specifically you can extend the warranty up to two years.

Now when it comes to high end rangefinders the standard is closer to a lifetime warranty or a five year warranty, with the majority still being the lifetime option. This is because the companies are more confident in their products and want to keep their customers coming back year after year.

    Overall Summary & Conclusion

    Best Budget Golf Rangefinder

At the end of the day, you really cannot go wrong with the rangefinders that we have laid out for you.

The best all around option in our opinion is the Bozily Golf Rangefinder. The reasons behind this decision are that it has the maximum distance on the list while maintaining a one yard or meter accuracy rating. It also includes slope with two modes and vibrates whenever you have successfully locked onto the pin.

Bozily Golf Rangefinder - one of the best budget golf rangefinders

Whether you select this option or not in general you should look for an accuracy of one yard or meter for all rangefinders, and maximum distance is not necessarily the most important factor. Expect a warranty of thirty days which you could get extended to two years if you go out of your way to do so. Including slope reading in your rangefinder can be really beneficial too, but in general keep in mind that even the best budget golf rangefinder readings will not be as accurate in the rain or fog.

We hope you found this article helpful and enjoy your new rangefinder!
