I’ve taken a different approach find the best women’s golf clubs. This article suits women who have either recently started golf or have been playing for a while. For me, it’s not possible to pick one club and say that it is the best women’s golf clubs on the market. That is why I have broken down my review into four groups; full complete sets, drivers, irons, and then putters.

After this, I will explain a bit more about the essential key features. Then to close the article, I will give my feedback on some of the most common questions around this topic.

Best Women’s Golf Drivers

Drivers are the next stop on our search for the best women’s golf clubs and the bit golfers most enjoy. These drivers I’ve picked are best suited to beginners and mid-handicappers.

When choosing a driver, there’s a couple of crucial things to consider. First, it’s known that women golfers tend to have slower swing speeds. Second, it’s also known every golfer struggles to hit the ball out of the middle of the face.

Having played golf a long time, I know that the best drivers for women are ones in the light to mid-weight category. They feature added loft for high launch and more forgiveness to reduce miss-hits.

Callaway Women’s Rogue Draw Driver

Callaway is one of the most recognizable golf club brands in the world. They also design and manufacture some of the best women’s drivers too. The Rogue Draw driver has its draw-biased setup and is great for golfers with shots that veer right.

The driver features Callaway’s signature Jailbreak technology. This technology generates fast ball speeds even on miss-hits, which is why this is an excellent option for most.

This driver helps golfers with below-average swing speeds. It’s also suitable for those who also suffer from an open clubface at impact.

Best Women’s Golf Clubs - Callaway Women’s Rogue Draw Driver

The Rogue Draw has an offset clubface with an internal and external weighting system. It’s this system that promotes a draw ball flight, again, ideal for beginners. A final point to make is that the Rogue Draw is available in a high lofted option too.

Best Golf Irons for Women

The third section to consider when finding the best women’s golf clubs is Irons. Most beginners to mid-handicap golfers need irons to help achieve higher launch angles. They also need irons that help achieve faster ball speeds for longer distances.

For new starters, game-improvement irons with a ladies or senior shaft flex are what you will need. These shafts ensure more distance, higher launch, and optimal stopping power on greens. These benefits are what every golfer wants when it comes to iron play.

Cleveland is famous for its wedge designs. But, they also design some of the best super game improvement irons that money can buy. With their hybrid-like designs, the Launcher HB Turbo irons ooze technology. This technology is best suited to help female beginners and seniors with their golf.

The hollow construction, in combination with the Turbocharged Face technology, achieves explosive distance. This distance is a result of the increased ball speeds off the clubface. As well as distance, these irons also provide a lot of height. The extra height is a result of the redesigned HiBore Crown designs.

The set includes 4 to 9 irons as well as a PW and a gap wedge. These irons, with their oversize designs, aren’t the sleekest when it comes to looks. But, when it comes to performance, they will make a massive difference to the development of your game.

Best Putter for Women Golfers

The final part of the review around the best women’s golf clubs is Putters. Putting is a vital part of everyone’s game. The quicker you get the run of the greens, the faster your scores will drop.

The two most important factors for anyone’s game are alignment and forgiveness. These are the two main features I have made sure the following provides.

Wilson Harmonized M5 Golf Putter

Wilson is in a class of their own when it comes to value for money golf club designs. This value for money is no different with their Harmonized M5 putter. The Harmonized M5 is a mallet putter that comes in a standard length of 35 inches.

Suppose you struggle with aiming; this features an easy-to-use alignment system. The system has bright horizontal lines that compliment the shape of the putter head.

Furthermore, this budget putter also features a microinjection polymer face insert. This face insert provides a soft feel at impact and ensures greater forgiveness.

How to Find the Best Women’s Golf Clubs

Drivers & Woods

Most female golfers look for greater forgiveness to get the ball in the air for a longer distance.

A lot of amateur golfers struggle with clubhead speed. This lack of speed prevents the ball from getting high enough to carry and roll out.

Drivers and woods that offer forgiveness are what you need. The tech in these clubs keeps the ball straight on miss-hits and generates faster ball speeds. As a result, you will experience higher ball flight, more carry, and longer roll for more distance. You will hit more fairways, too.

Also, it would help if you made sure the driver or fairway wood is the correct length and has the right shaft. Shaft weight, flex, and kick point all help achieve the most swing speed. Swing speed transfers into clubhead speed, and the rest, well, you know the rest.

Irons & Wedges

When it comes to irons and wedges, the club head type and shaft are the two most important factors to consider. Again, most female golfers need help to launch the golf ball into the air for a longer distance.

A lightweight ladies flex graphite shaft will be the best option for most. As well as that, look for game improvement or super game improvement club heads. These club heads offer a lot of benefits, one being greater forgiveness on miss-hits. These clubhead types also generate faster ball speeds, helping those with slower swings.

When it comes to wedges, most beginner sets feature oversized PW and SW wedges. Wedge shots and chipping are essential in lowering scores, so you may want to invest a little more here. If you’re going to develop your golf, then higher-quality 56 to 60-degree wedges may be best from the start.

Putters

An essential part of putting is alignment. A lot of golfers struggle with alignment, so a clear alignment system makes it so much easier.

Alongside alignment, the forgiveness off the putter face is also as important. Even with this club, it’s not easy to make consistent center contact with the ball. Forgiving putters provide better distance and more accuracy on those off-center strikes.

Other factors to consider include putter head style, weight, length, and grip options.

Frequently Asked Questions

What to look for in a full set of golf clubs?

Price:  Golf clubs range greatly in terms of price and the purchase of a high-end driver, putter or set of clubs can have a big impact on your budget. It’s not necessary a rule that expensive is better, but you shouldn’t just go for the cheapest option either. Value for money is important for everyone when it comes to buying new clubs. A high-quality set of clubs will assist with improving your game at first and it will also ensure that you can play with them for an extended period.

Clubs Included:  Some of the best women’s golf club sets include everything from woods through to a putter. But other golf club sets only have irons. It’s best to check before you buy and be mindful of what extra clubs you will need to fill your bag to the 14 club rule. Some starter sets may look like a great price, but once you’ve added in any extra clubs, it might not be so great after

Bag Type:  Most of the best women’s golf club sets  include a bag. A cart bag will be ideal if you plan to use a pushcart or if your club only has golf carts. But, if you plan on walking and carrying your bag while you play, a stand bag will be a much better option.

Shafts:  Shaft type is one of the most important factors to consider when buying a set of clubs. Most of the best women’s golf clubs come standard with ladies flex shafts. But, but if your swing speed is faster than the average lady, you will need a senior or regular flex.

Are Women’s Golf Clubs Different From Men’s Golf Clubs?

When you look at both clubs, you won’t see much difference between men’s and women’s golf clubs from a design perspective. But, some technical elements of women’s golf clubs are different that you wouldn’t necessarily feel or be aware of until they take that first swing.

The differences between men’s and women’s golf clubs come from the shaft flex, shaft type, overall weight, and even the standard loft of the driver.

You’ll know by now that in most cases, the average female armature golfer has a below-average swing speed when compared to men. As a result, women are generally best suited by playing with shafts that are more flexible and lighter so extra clubhead speed can be generated.

Most women’s clubs are made with graphite shafts, which helps deliver that flexibility and lightness. Most armature men will play with steel shafts in their irons, but you’ll often see armature women play with graphite. Steel shafts are heavier in comparison and are less flexible. So to get the most out of steel shafts, you need to generate high enough clubhead speeds to create the whip.

The final quick thing to point out, away from irons, is driver loft. Due to the lower average swing speeds, women struggle to launch the golf ball high enough in the air to get a reasonable distance and run with their driver. In most cases, the average driver loft for armatures is somewhere between 8.5 and 10.5 degrees, depending on the golfers’ swing. However, most woman golfers would benefit from a range between 11 and 13 degrees to help with that launch.

What Are The Best Brands For Women’s Golf Clubs?

The big names in the golf industry, including Callaway, TaylorMade, and Cobra, lead the way to design women’s clubs.

From a design perspective, the best brands for women’s golf clubs focus is on using technology to help women golfers to increase clubhead speed and distance. These top brands include all their famous design features in the designs of their women’s clubs.

Callaway differentiates their complete women’s set offering by including a premium Odyssey putter. TaylorMade focuses its designs on building ultra-light clubs to increase the swing speeds of women’s players.

The affordability of Wilson’s women’s clubs is a differentiating factor. Furthermore, their women’s sets also feature a lob wedge with a wedge profile, making chipping and bunker shots a lot easier.

You won’t go wrong by playing with women’s clubs from any of the industries leading brands. What matters most is that you play with clubs that work for you based on your swing.

How Much Shorter Are Women’s Golf Clubs?

Standard women’s golf clubs are shorter than men’s golf clubs by between 1 to 3 inches, depending on the club in question. The typical driver length for female drivers is 44 inches, compared to the 45.5 inch drivers designed for men. When it comes to the irons, a women’s 3 iron is 38.5 inches compared to a 3 iron for men, which is 39.5 inches in length.

To reiterate a point made earlier, you can play with men’s clubs if they are better for your game. Some women need their clubs to be shorter than standard and vice versa for tall female players.

Should I Buy Standard or Petite Women’s Golf Clubs?

From an overall design perspective, petite and standard women’s golf clubs are very similar. But despite these similarities, there are some key differences between the two.

The most significant difference is in length and weight. On average petite clubs are an inch shorter than standard women’s clubs. This inch difference in height is applied through the bag from the driver to the wedges. For example, the standard length of a women’s driver shaft is 44.5 inches, a petite women’s driver is 43.5 inches.

As a result of the difference in length, petite clubs are also lighter than standard women’s clubs. This difference in weight changes from one manufacturer to the next and isn’t standard across the board.

Standard women’s clubs are designed for women between 5’5″ and 5’9″. If you are shorter than this, petite clubs are recommended. Petite clubs are also an excellent option for junior golfers.

What is the Difference Between Women’s and Junior’s Golf Clubs?

Women’s and junior golf clubs feature very similar designs. Both feature lightweight shafts with maximum flex and clubhead designs that launch the ball in the air.

The biggest difference between women’s and junior clubs is length. Junior sets are available in different lengths to match the height differences of junior golfers of different ages. Furthermore, technology and set composition are also evident when comparing women’s and junior golf clubs.

Last but not least is the price. The average women’s set is more expensive than the average junior set. This price difference is mainly because manufacturers limit the technology used in the design of junior groups. Furthermore, most junior sets also feature only a select number of clubs.

Despite the difference between women’s and junior clubs, there is no reason why a female golfer can’t play with a junior set. If you decide to switch, it’s important to keep in mind that there will be compromises you will have to make – compromises in terms of technology and functionality from a set composition point of view.

Can Men Play with Women’s Golf Clubs?

The short answer is yes, men can play with women’s golf clubs, but whether they should is a different story. Typically, male golfers shorter than the average height with a slower swing speed will be the ones who will benefit the most from women’s golf clubs.

The benefits a male golfer might see from playing with women’s golf clubs will differ from one player to the next. But, in general, the correct type of male player will see an increase in swing speed and added height on their iron shots.

At the end of the day, it’s all about results. If a set of women’s clubs allows you to improve your results and enjoy your golf more, then you should go with them. Golf is a very social sport, it’s there to be enjoyed, leaving all egos in the car park.

So if you are in the market for a new set of clubs, and you happen to be a shorter male with below-average swing speed that’s reading this page, then just keep in mind that some of the clubs above may be right for you too.
